Varieties that originated in the Rhone Valley in France (Syrah, Viognier
and Marsanne) provide the main stock for our vineyard.
The first vines were planted in 2001 after carefully tending our granite
soils.
The Syrah is drawn from 10 clones to maximise the diversity of flavour
and character of Cypress Post. These 10 clones are grown as 2 tiered canopies
aligned up Cypress (Callitris glaucophylla) Posts.
The Viognier and Marsanne are more conventionally grown on a trellis.
Each passing season provides further lessons and understanding.
The wines connect with our philosophy of minimal inputs to maximise quality
- treading lightly but providing outstanding examples which reflect
our sense of place.
